Zachary Cabauy was born on September 3, 1932 to his parents, Raquel and Juan Cabauy. He was the oldest of four children. In 1948, he came to the United States for a brief time at a Methodist boarding school. He later returned to Cuba, where he studied engineering, but illness interrupted his studies. In the early 1950s, he returned to the United States seeking opportunity and a better future. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. In 1959, he married his beloved wife, Arely Cabauy, and together they built a life, family, and home in the United States. A dedicated lifelong learner, Zachary returned to college under the GI Bill, where he excelled academically, graduating with honors and an outstanding GPA in mathematics. He went on to work as a computer programmer for Florida Power & Light, building a successful career through intelligence, perseverance, and hard work. Above all, Zachary was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. He faithfully served his church as a pianist and Sunday School teacher, sharing both his musical gifts and his love of Scripture with others. He and Arely raised three sons: John, Joseph, and Peter. Through sacrifice, discipline, and determination, he helped put all of his children through college, creating opportunities for the next generation. Zachary is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Arely Cabauy; his sons and their cherished wives; his eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and his siblings, Henry and Edith. As a man of Christian faith, Zachary trusted in the Lord throughout his life. Today, we take comfort in knowing that he is with the Lord. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He will be remembered for his faith, humility, discipline, devotion to family, love of learning, and the life he built.
