Marie Venise Legrand Pilet Cazeau was born on April 17, 1936, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to her mother, Anite Nerestant, and her father, Emmanuel Legrand. She passed peacefully in her home as desired on February 25, 2026, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of faith, strength, and unconditional love. Venise, lovingly known as “Nana,” also "Marie," was the heart of her family. She was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, wife, and friend. To know her was to experience warmth, kindness, and joy. She had a radiant presence and brought light into every room she entered. She believed deeply in people and chose to see the good in everyone. Her life reflected the simple but powerful command to love one another. Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She began each morning in prayer and ended each night in quiet conversation with God. Her faith gave her strength in both joyful and difficult times. She often said that we must accept what God gives us and trust in His plan. She lived those words with grace and courage. Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace knowing that Nana is now resting in God’s eternal embrace. Her prayers, her strength, and her love will remain with us always. Her spirit endures in the family she nurtured, the faith she carried, and the lives she shaped forever.
