Mrs. Irene Canosa Recio, 82, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, in Coral Gables, Florida. Born on May 5, 1943, in Havana, Cuba, she immigrated to the United States in 1960. Irene was educated at El Sagrado Corazon de La Habana and went on to dedicate her life to service—both to her community and her family. She worked at Conchita Eåspinosa Academy for an extraordinary 47 years, where she became a source of strength and guidance for generations of students and families. Her unwavering loyalty and quiet leadership made her a beloved figure among colleagues and friends alike. A devout member of the Church of the Little Flower, Irene served as a sacristan and Eucharistic minister for over 30 years. She was a daily communicant at the 6 a.m. Mass and exemplified a deep commitment to her faith and her service to others. Her generosity, integrity, sense of humor, and grace touched all who knew her. Irene is survived by her three children, Irene Recio (Lucia), Frank Recio (Fabiola), and Ana Recio Reyes (Chris). Her six grandchildren, Olivia, Francisco, and Felipe Recio and Sofia, Natalia, and Christopher Recio Reyes, will always cherish the innumerable fond memories they have with her. She will be deeply missed by her two siblings, Elisa Canosa Blair, and Frank Canosa. Irene is predeceased by her husband, Francisco Hernandez Recio, and her parents, Elisa Montoro Canosa and Frank Canosa. A viewing will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Bernardo Garcia Funeral Home, 8215 Bird Road, Miami, FL 33155. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Mater Admirabilis Chapel, 3840 Main Highway, Miami, Florida 33133. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North Cemetery, 3260 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33135. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
