Irmgard Sandel was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Andrée Danel and Theodor Sandel on February 8th 1954. her big sister Gerda was very excited to have a little doll to play with. She grew up in her family home in the neighborhood of pacot where she had many lifelong friends and attended sacre cœur, a catholic school. She then attended Christ the king for post secondary school. Shortly after, she married Fred Laroche and had her first child, Richard. Irmgard met her current husband Rodney Paris in NY in 1984. She immediately considered Rodney Junior and Nanoushka as her own. They later had a son, Rodgy and a daughter, Renate. She lived many places including port au prince, New York, Washington DC, Colorado, and Florida; and loved to travel throughout her life. Her latest travels included camping trips with her Sebastian family. Irmgard loved doing jigsaw puzzles and crosswords; she enjoyed reading and listening to music. she was always baking and cooking for her family and friends. Her house was always well decorated for every holiday. She was a hard worker and a fighter. She loved spending time with her sister, her cousins, her nephews and nieces, her friends, her classmates, and of course her husband, her kids, and her many grandchildren. Family was everything to her; especially her grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in May 2018 and she has battled daily since then. In July 2024, she was diagnosed with colon cancer and the daily fight doubled. Irmgard was brave and strong and loved by so many. Though her presence will be missed, she will be in our hearts forever.
